Building sector

Saint-Herblain (Nantes), Loire-Atlantique, Atlantic France

Project start date : 2017

Project owner(s)

The first self-sufficient energy office building in France thanks to on-site hydrogen production. The 4608 sqm building has been designed to have low energy requirements (geothermal and geocooling). It is also equipped with solar panels on its roof, which provide the energy to produce hydrogen by electrolysis, which is then stored and converted by a fuel cell during periods of energy shortage to meet the consumption needs of the occupants (energy for the building and power for hybrid car-sharing vehicles).

When in operation, the site produces more energy than the users consume.

Progress of the project

  1. Prototyping phase (feasibility, design)
  2. Industrialization phase
