Event: Atlantic France hydrogen industry players out in force at HyVolution 2024

#DECRYPTING&CO #Hydrogen

The leading international trade fair for hydrogen will be returning to Paris at the end of January. Solutions&co will be there alongside a dozen companies from the Atlantic France region to showcase the excellence and diversity of the region’s players.

More than 500 exhibitors are expected in Paris from the 30th of January to the 1st of February for the 2024 edition of HyVolution. Created in 2016, the event has become a must for all players in the hydrogen value chain.

The event is also hugely international, with 88 foreign exhibitors from 20 different countries taking part last year.

Atlantic France: a complete ecosystem for the development of the hydrogen sector

The Atlantic France region is at the forefront of green hydrogen development, bringing together a wide range of players. While several industry leaders will be present at the event with their own stands (Lhyfe, EDF/Hynamics, GRTgaz, CETIM), the regional pavilion (stands 4K40 & 4K32) will host 10 co-exhibitors covering all the strategic issues of the industry:

Training

Drawing on half a century of experience in the gas sector, Energy Formation (the training organisation of GRDF, France’s main natural gas distribution system operator) offers 250 training courses on 3 different sites, with a particular focus on the basics of hydrogen and the associated risks.

The land

The Vendée is home to France’s first 100% green hydrogen production site, which was set up by Lhyfe in Bouin. The département is also a pioneer in the creation of hydrogen refuelling stations, opening its fourth this autumn.

This mobilisation of the region, essential for the development of the sector, is supported by Oryon, the semi-public company of the Vendée, which offers a business park dedicated to sustainable mobility: Atinéa, (on the former Michelin site in La Roche-sur-Yon).

Industrial expertise

Several major players will be present at the regional stand:

  • Artis specialises in industrial piping, particularly for gas transport
  • CIAM, a subsidiary of the Europe Technologies group, manufactures and integrates hybrid (hydrogen and electric) propulsion systems on board ships
  • Fétis designs, manufactures, and integrates innovative systems for the decarbonisation of heavy machinery using hydrogen fuel cells, integrated batteries for electrification, and hybridisation of machinery
  • Kohler develops custom power converters and energy management systems to connect renewable energy to the grid
  • Manitou has developed hydrogen-powered forklifts.

Innovation

Two promising startups will be alongside these manufacturers: Athena Recherche & Innovation, which is working on the biological production of hydrogen through the fermentation of wastewater and the recycling of waste from the agrifood industry, and Farwind, which is developing offshore solutions for the conversion and storage of wind energy.

Networking

During the development of a new sector, it is essential to connect clients with solution providers and enable them to respond collectively to local needs. The Neopolia cluster plays this role to perfection, bringing together all the players in the hydrogen sector.

A plenary conference on offshore hydrogen production

We will be holding a conference in Forum 1 on the 31st of January between 12.00 and 12.20 PM. Entitled “Connecting Ocean Energy to European Industries“, it will highlight the crucial role of Atlantic France in the energy transition and the supply of green hydrogen.

Speakers will include Lhyfe, a pioneer in the production of green hydrogen at sea with its innovative Sealhyfe project and recent winner of the mass hydrogen production call for expression of interest organised by the port,; the Port of Nantes Saint-Nazaire, which has embarked on an ambitious decarbonisation strategy with the French-government-supported ZIBaC (Low-Carbon Industrial Zone) project Another speaker present will be GRTgaz, a gas industry company which will support infrastructure projects from local to continental scale, with the possibility of transporting hydrogen from renewable sources throughout Europe.

The Atlantic France region has great potential for offshore renewable energy production and a long tradition of maritime activities. This unique combination is a key asset to form the basis of a new sustainable European energy system.

Come and meet us to discover new opportunities for your business
