Minerve, an experimental local energy cycle project supported by AFUL Chantrerie, brings together around twenty private and public players, including universities, at the Chantrerie site in Nantes. The first operational plant of its kind in France, Minerve is a power-to-gas demonstrator that produces synthetic methane from hydrogen and CO2 for mobility purposes. Hydrogen is produced by the electrolysis of water. Installed alongside a biomass heating plant, it also aims to explore the potential use of multiple facilities (heat generating, CO2 capturing, etc.) as part of the energy transition.

Progress of the project

  1. Prototyping phase (feasibility, design)
  2. Industrialization phase
  3. Series production/operation phase
