Developing local hydrogen ecosystems: with AdvancedH2Valley, the momentum in Atlantic France continues to grow!

#DECRYPTING&CO #Hydrogen #Nonclassé

The Atlantic France regional council and the Nantes-based scale-up Lhyfe are playing a leading role in creating several ecosystems dedicated to the development of the hydrogen industry.

The latest hydrogen ecosystem, AdvancedH2Valley, has received major support from the European Union and is paving the way for large-scale collaboration between private and public players. As one of the first two valleys in France, the project places the region at the forefront of the hydrogen economy in France, while fostering inter-regional synergies.

The emergence of a new industrial sector requires the creation of synergies between different types of actors. In recent years, several joint initiatives have been launched to develop hydrogen ecosystems in the Atlantic France region, and the momentum continues to gain pace!

Projects already underway:

since 2024

Atlantic France, Centre Val de Loire, Normandy, Brittany + international

Lhyfe, EnR44, Teréga Solutions, Hyliko, Loire-Atlantique departement, SAS Terminal du Grand Ouest – TGO, Fraikin France, Zamenhof Exploitation, Hype, Fundacion Tecnalia Research & Innovation (Spain), Orléans University, Bretagne Sud University, Warrant Hub Spa (Italy), Automobile Club de l’Ouest, Atlantic France regional council, Angers Loire Métropole, Normandy regional council, Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe.

Creation of up to 11.5 MW of new production capacity, deployment of a fleet of hydrogen-powered trucks, maritime applications, and port logistics. Target: 14,600 tonnes of CO² avoided in 2 years.

Winner of the European Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking call for projects (€8.9 million grant).

Since 2023

Brittany (Morbihan) with the possibility of supplying projects in Atlantic France

Lhyfe, Lorient Agglomération, Sydela énergie 44, HyGO (not exhaustive)

Creation of a complete ecosystem with a production site, stations, and land and sea mobility applications (19 buses and 2 ships targeted). Target: 1,900 t CO² avoided per year).

Winner of the Ademe call for projects “Hydrogen territorial ecosystems”.

Future projects:The ambition is to expand even further in the future by creating larger-scale ecosystems. At the last HyVolution show, a strategic partnership was announced between the Brittany, Normandy, and Atlantic France regions to create an integrated hydrogen cluster in Western France at a European level.
